1. Introduction to Contemporary Art

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Stemming from the social, cultural and political upheavals of the 60s, contemporary art has continued to question many of society’s values and assumptions, pushing the boundaries of what art is and responding directly to issues of modern life. In this video, I trace contemporary art from its origins in the 1960s, looking at the ways in which art has reflected social, political and technological changes of the last 50 years, including second-wave feminism in the 1970s, identity politics in the 1980s and 1990s and internet culture in the twenty-first century.
