1. START! - a neofuturist opera in 5 movements 1) THE DISTANT SOUND OF CARS or RHYTHMIC FUNCTIONALITY 2) MANIFESTO POMODORO 3) TRYING TO START A CAR THAT WON'T WORK 4) QUARTET FOR CAR HORNS AND RADIOS 5) FILIPPO AND LUDWIG READ US A BEDTIME STORY Inspired by the Milan Futurists and in particular, Luigi Russolo's Art of Noises manifesto, Joseph Young founded The NeoFuturist Collective in 2007 to celebrate urban noise in all its' visual and aural forms. This latest work START!, composed especially for World Listening Day, in collaboration with choreographer, Christine Lockhart, takes the form of a site-specific response to the urban playground. It is a NeoFuturist opera in words, sound and movement, with car horns, radios and engines as its' principal instruments.
