Dallas Urban Nature Park Dallas, Texas is home to one of the largest sections of public nature in the country and is set to have the nation’s largest urban nature park. The area known as the Trinity River Corridor is home to ten thousand acres of forest, lakes and developed places like the Texas Horse Park and The Trinity River Audubon Center. Three large but disconnected projects are happening in the corridor and once developers finish them and the city recognizes the developments as unified Dallas will become known as one of America’s greenest cities. 7. Summit Powder Mountain A group of young entrepreneurs is in the process of developing an area in Utah that they hope to turn into a ten-thousand-acre state of the art ski community in the coming years. Plans call for 500 single family homes that will be ski-accessible as well as miles of trails and cultural amenities. All of this is part of a community that developers call a next generation alpine town. The area lies in one of the largest ski territories in the country and in a region where Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Wyoming meet. 6. Elvis Presley’s Memphis Next March a $45 million two-hundred thousand square foot entertainment complex will open. Exhibits dedicated to the King and his musical influences as well as restaurants and performance venues will also lie in the compound. A 20,000 square foot museum called Elvis: The Entertainer, which anchors the entire project will also open its doors for the first time. Presley Motors, an automobile museum with vehicles owned by Elvis is also going to open. The area will be across the street from The Guest House at Graceland, a 450 room resort. 5. Jatayu Nature Park Currently, under construction, this breathtaking nature park in India promises to be one of the most amazing in the world when it's complete. Reaching across 65 acres of land the park will have a 6D theater and an audio-visual based digital museum. The park gets its name from the mythical bird who died saving Sita in the classic tale Ramayana. A sculpture of Jatayu is under construction in the park that will become the largest in the world. The planned artwork will be 200 feet long 70 feet high and will take up fifteen thousand square feet of floor area. 4. Pandora Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the summer of 2017 is this Avatar themed area. Pandora will feature an intense ride called Flight of Passage and Na’Vi River Journey, a boat experience intended for the whole family. Floating mountains, or boulders with grass on top of them being held up by steel beams, can be seen from the Animal Kingdom parking lot. The team that is building the area took their job very seriously. They traveled to caves in Thailand and Central America to study bioluminescence, which is how creatures emit light in the movie. Developers also went to rainforests in Hawaii to make sure the trees of Pandora looked real. 3. Cempedak Island Twenty beautiful villas made entirely of bamboo and each containing a pool will be available to those with good connections and deep enough pockets starting next March. Construction began in 2014, and a crew of 60 have been living and working on Cempedak Island to complete the project since then. The island is located two and a half hours from Singapore in Indonesia and contains granite boulders and fantastic views of the surroundings. 2. Dawang Mountain Resort Construction of this futuristic resort takes place as China prepares to host the Winter Olympics in 2022. The country hopes that the presence of the Olympics and this remarkable compound will combine to create a new generation of winter sports enthusiasts. The resort will hold a water park, an indoor ski area, and a 200-foot waterfall. The most notable building in the development is a 330-foot tall tower that will hold a 5-star hotel. The whole complex is being built over what was once an abandoned quarry. While the resort was supposed to be complete by this year, there is currently no set date for its opening. 1. The World Islands While this group of human-made islands that form the shape of the world lies in the Persian Gulf, only a few have anything on them. The ambitious project started in 2003 and had faced many difficulties since then. Development stalled in 2008 due to a lack of financing. Evidence recently suggested that the islands are slowly falling into the sea. Many of the islands have been sold off to private contractors, and a group began developing the European islands in 2014.
