Comments

  1. Is the house occupied now that Edith has passed away?
  2. She died in 2008.
  3. Fantastic commentary on social history. It's something I've said many times... we need to document peoples life experiences for future generations. I'm surprised that sod houses appeared in Canada, but they were prevalent in countries like Iceland (I've been looking into the vikings, then by association sod houses) so I guess new immigrants brought the notion with them.
  4. What a fantastic upload :) I really enjoyed that documentary. Thank you
  5. Amazing House - Amazing Woman .....
  6. I always wonder where my polyester shirts straight from the 70's I buy from Goodwill come from, and if someone just stuck them in a closet this entire time or what? I would totally buy that shirt for $3.00 she's still rockin'. That is weird, isn't it? Mmmm... pink plum blossoms....
  7. Great house! I live in a two story sod house in Western Nebraska. Very unique. Great video.
  8. I could start a farm and business for almost free . hmmm . haha . cool. board and batter the outside . cheap to heat. sweet I say .
  9. This house is now 103 years old WoW ! Try to build one now days and see what the Government says LoL . Bet it would be NO Dose not meet code and would call it unsafe
  10. Hmmm.  I was just wondering why rammed earth wasn't used in place of sod.  Maybe the sod was less labor?
  11. It really is a great house. So glad you got to have a tour. I was very lucky to have met Edith. I didn't know about James being a ship's carpenter. Thanks for sharing that information.
  12. Thanks for recording the memories. We need to learn all we can from this generation.
  13. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. It was a privilege to meet Edith and have her show us around her very special home. Unfortunately she has passed on. Thanks for watching.
