5 Futuristic Predictions You Won't Believe May Come True! Description: If you have lived for the past 30 years, I bet you have seen quite a number of developments around you that you would have never thought possible. Over the years, scientists and inventors have been busy trying to make life easier, which has led people to predict some pretty crazy possibilities. With this being said prepare , because here are 5 Future Predictions You Won't Believe May Come True! Ready? Well, lets begin! 1. Skyscraper Aerodromes Would Transport Passengers In the 1920s, it was a random thought among people that skyscraper aerodromes would be a cool way of getting passengers into cities. You’d probably agree with that thought given the congestion in some cities. People envisioned runways which were cantilevered outward from rooftops shared between several buildings. One innovative and inspired architect went further to propose the construction of some sort of giant table with skyscrapers as legs and a landing platform placed on top of them. New York Times took it from a more personal angle when they said, “the helicopter and gyroscope will enable a man to land and start from a shelf outside his dwelling window”. If this ever happens, it will certainly help on traffic! 2. Houses Will Cost Only $5,000 And Last Only 25 Years Popular Mechanics made quite controversial statements in their article entitled, “Miracles You’ll see in the next fifty years”. They suggested that by the year 2000, building material such as wood, brick and stone would become too expensive as compared to metal, sheets of plastic and aerated clay. Houses were predicted to be cheap and would cost only $5,000. They would last only 25 years because there would be no sense of building a house lasting a whole century. For all those who hate cleaning, here’s some good news: household gadgets would be minimal! Picture this: you put dishes in a sink and they are dissolved by superheated water at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. How cool is that! Plastics would be made from cheap raw materials and sawdust and wood would be converted into sugary foods. Are there any candy lovers in the house? 3. Factories Would Float In Space, And Cancer Would Be Conquered What would actually happen if all the new technologies and innovations we have around actually materialize as planned? In 1983, the Science and Technology Agency in Tokyo interviewed 20 experts that had an answer to this. They said people would enjoy all sorts of information due to development of digital communication networks. By 2010, factories and laboratories would take advantage of the absence of gravity and would float around space to create pharmaceuticals, alloys and other substances. That didn’t happen but, it may just. The experts also believed that diseases such as cancer, cerebral apoplexy and heart ailment would be a thing of the past by 2010. This last one I really hope to see! 4. Mosquitoes And Flies Will Be Extinct A man who made some pretty accurate predictions of the future was John Elfereth Watkins Jr. in 1900. In an article published in The Ladies Home Journals he predicted that mobile phones and pre-prepared meals would be a norm. He also predicted that health boards would destroy all mosquito breeding grounds, drain all stagnant pools and chemically treat all still-water streams. That was a great miscalculation, but it may just happen. Who knows.... 5. Underwater Housing As An Option You lovers of water sports will like this. In 1964, Isaac Asimov, one of the 29th century best-known science fiction writers published an essay in the New York times predicting what the world would look like in 50 years’ time. He predicted that 2014 would mark the beginning of the colonization of the continental shelves. Underwater dwellings would be a popular housing option which would encourage a more efficient exploitation of ocean resources. These suburban underground houses would have” easily controlled temperature, free from seasonal variations. He is a sci-fi writer…what would you expect him to say!
