A Fast Stop in Lively Bitola, Macedonia

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Bitola was an important junction connecting the south of the Adriatic Sea with the Aegean Sea and Central Europe; an important consulate city, trade center for the Roman Empire and second largest city in Macedonia. Unfortunately, we only had one hour in lively Bitola that has many historic sights to see as well as a pedestrian street lined with restaurants and cafes. This walking area led past wonderful Art Deco architecture that is, believe it or not, undamaged. There is an imposing Statue of King Phillip II, Clock tower, an old Bedestan, synagogue which we could not manage to locate and a Film Festival is held yearly, dedicated to the Monarki brothers who went to California in 1903-1904 and came back with the first movie camera. Definitely not enough time in Bitola.

Comments

  1. Sheila I guess you never guessed every single video featuring Bitola would ignite a genocidal troll war in the comments section "you are sheet son of whore!" "no you are sheet and you suck my goat dick!". Sigh. Anyways, I'm moving there in January after eleven years in another small Eastern European town, Kolín, Czech Republic. It seems like a neat place!
  2. Bitohla << you sound like you come from Essex...

Beetollar is a better pronunciation :)
  3. Nice video gonna visit Macedonia this summer, any tips  Sheila? :)
  4. Nice video, I will be visiting Macedonia soon and will make a trip to Bitola while I'm  there.
  5. GREECE vs FYROM = Myth or Fact?

    http://ow.ly/A4cjx

    .
  6. its FYROM not MACEDONIA
  7. beautiful MACEDONIA. Greetings from Spain, beautiful people, lots of fun , best food...... hope to return soon...
  8. NO Bitola....but MANASTIRI
  9. the largest city of macedonia is thesaloniki.LOVE MAKEDONIA!PROUD OF GREECE!!!!
  10. After the death of Alexander the Great, the era between 323 b.c. and 30 b.c, is named as HELLENISTIC.

This explains VERY WELL IF THE MACEDONIANS WERE HELLENES OR NOT.

Macedonians are Hellenes.Hellenes or Greek are two different names for the same nation.

One the same way the Croatians call their country "Hrvatska" and the Hungarians call themselves "Magyars".

Asking if Alexander the Great was "Macedonian or Greek" is WRONG. It is like asking if Milanese are Italians, Bavarians are Germans, Texans are Americans,

The RIGHT question is "Greek or Slav" . And the slavic populations were not even in the Balkans then. They came almost 800 years later .

    MACEDONIA IS GREEK.
  11. Bitola/Monastiri was a Greek city before the Bulgarians stole it!
  12. and of course the so called greeks are troling on every video on YT mentioning macedonia. "GREEKS" get a proper job and get a life for god sake:
  13. Actually Sheila.. is FYR Macedonia.
  14. Bitola is the old Heraclea Lynchestis, the city king Philippos the second build in order to honor his forefather, Hercules, the greatest Greek demigod hero. And that is one more proof that acient Macedonians were a totally Greek tribe.
  15. You are welcome to visit us anytime.
  16. I am from Bitola and this is the first time I see this video.
I am glad that you like my town and I invite you to come any time you want, the poeple are very polite. Btw. The writing is Macedonian, not greek.
  17. Thanks, Sheila.
  18. I'm pretty sure it was Cyrillic, the same written language used in Russia but Macedonia and Bulgaria speak the same Slavic language.
  19. Nice video. It looks like the writing was greek. Is it greek, the language they use?
  20. Nice! Yes 1 hour is not enough for this fabulous place!
