A Floating City Concept - as part of the news series by GeoBeats. In future, could we live on water if needed? Architect Vincent Callebaut has envisioned an innovative solution. His futuristic concept, titled "Lilypad" would essentially allow a city to reside on water. The metropolis would float and house as many as 50,000 people. The design bears a resemblance to a spaceship, however it is referred to as an 'ecopolis'. The construction materials would include polyester fibers and titanium dioxide, which would soak up the atmosphere's pollution. An artificial lagoon is submersed creating ballast for the floating city. The designer notes - "The multifunctional programming is based on three marinas and three mountains dedicated respectively to the work, the shops and the entertainments. " There will also be what is called 'planted housing' crossed by alleys and trees, outlined organically. The underside of the floating city will reportedly serve as a home to oceanic plants. 5. This concept has far too many dwellings and therefore far too many people. It is like a fat cruise ship.  When on a cruise ship there are constant entertainment and meals. There is also a change of scenery when a ship reaches a port. The architect is trying to maximize profit, not design for comfort. The pool and tiny park would always be overcrowded, Try again Mr Architect. This time consider people and their wellbeing

These could be built in the most perfect places in the world./warm weather/little to no storms/calm and warm waters/ build em with geoengineering properties reverse the negative effects of humans on earth! And restore the biodiversity in the waters, even create a united new world superstate on water with thousands of these together, entire lily pad installations could be dedicated to a singular purpose, residences, farming and agriculture, wind/water and power units, and biggest of all proper waste management, imagine huge floating farm fields and huge tower farms high tech producing sustainable food, and give back the land back to nature whilst we take unused space on top of the ocean! Peace!
