3. I think another difference is that in interior design you are working with the constraints of the building, while in architecture the constraints lie outside of the building.

6. I found a new found appreciation for interior designers when I recently did some work in an architecture practice alongside the interiors team. I was a little uneducated about what they did as well but they really are intertwined with architects. The girls in the interiors team were using all the same programs as the draftsmen / architects and there was a lot of back and forth about the internal spaces and collaboration between the architects and interiors. The interiors team also had to work out finishing schedules and a whole range of other documentation to achieve the exact desired look of the client. This meant a lot of sourcing of products (made easier by the large samples cupboard) and different pairing of materials to achieve the overall look and feel of the brief. My time with the interior team was defiantly enjoyable. - LJ 😀
