3. Yes I've always enjoyed the thin, lanky, modernist pieces, those are just superb I know they were very prolific and I've seen a lot of the motifs, but you just always see those Africans... What an incredible collection you have. Most people spend their money on useless tat throughout their lives and will never see it back. I'm sure your collection is worth more than what you have into it.

Hello John, they also did Japanese figures, Thai figures, Animals, Art Deco Masks, Indians , mirrors, boxes and heaps more, the African theme was very popular in the late 1930,s and then again in the 1950,s, not only by Hagenauer but by many other European, American and Australian manufacters, many of them in ceramic, some in glass, bronze, brass, etc, the African theme was only a small part of the Hagenauer business, perhaps you should investigate further to see what you have been missing.
5. Its such a shame that Hagenauer used the African motif so heavily... Of course, stylistically they're superb, but... Black people?... Ugh. That's always stopped me from being really enthusiastic about Hagenauer. How about Japanese women, geisha, samurai? That would have been a great idea. THAT'S a beautiful culture. Who wants a statue of a primitive savage?
