Art Deco Gem In Chicago's River North

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

The nice weather has finally returned to Chicago so I jumped on the el the other day and headed into the city to catch up on my video clips after a cold winter. I was walking around the river north area just north of the Chicago River heading down La Salle St. to shot a clip at the La Salle / Wacker building which was the site of an attempted hit on Frank Nitti. ANYWAY is was just about to Hubbard when this odd little building caught my eye. Tucked between a couple of parking lots and surrounded by towering edifices was this gorgeous three story art deco building clad in colored terra cotta. So I took some photos and this short video and noted the address. 444 N. La Salle is home to the Veseman Building and was originally built in 1880. In the late 20's the building was completely remodeled with the third floor and art deco facade added. Although currently unoccupied it has been designated a landmark. For more information you can check out it's landmark designation report here. http://www.cityofchicago.org/dam/city/depts/zlup/Historic_Preservation/Publications/Vesemen_Building.pdf Another ChiTownView produced by Mike Beyer and presented by MindsiMedia.Visit our web portal at http://www.mindsimedia.info/
