  1. Were any of those pictures of the Odeon in Hartlepool in better days? I saw many Disney films there as a child, but it closed in the early 80s, a victim of the trend for.home video.and quickly.fell into disrepair after a.brief stint as a snooker hall. It couldn't be demolished due.to some.preservation order, but neither was it used for anything other than a pigeon and rat hotel and somewhere for local druggies to get off their dirty addict faces out of the rain. Sad fate for a lovely bit of architecture :(
  2. Think Oscar will be turning in his grave with what ODEON have done to his beautiful cinemas and what they have turned his dream into. I stopped going to Odeon after they closed the Leeds cinemas ( ABC & ODEON)
  3. There were indeed beautiful, and such a travisty that so many of them have gone. My favourite, the Odeon in Norwich, (demolished for a car park) was a prime example of Art Deco at it's best, and indeed was the largest cinema in the Europe along with the Odeon Leicester Square (thankfully still standing and restored to it's original state).
