Art Nouveau in the Architecture of Riga

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

The short film reflects Art Nouveau in the architecture of Riga, as it is one of the city's most distinct architectural styles. As a prevailing art style, Art Nouveau dominates in the late 19th and the early 20th century. The first Art Nouveau building in Riga, in Audeju Street 7, was built in 1899. The movie emphasizes the diversity of Art Nouveau buildings in Riga -- artworks created both by Latvian and foreign architects. Furthermore, the movie also depicts national romanticism, one of the directions of Art Nouveau, which is considered an attempt to create a national architectural style by Latvian architects.
