Ask 13: Animal Sculptures

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Some area sculptures have caught the attention of News 13 viewers. We have two questions that deal with area sculptures involving animals. The first was in reference to the 12 feet tall gecko sculpture on Pritchard Park made of brushed aluminum titled Deco Gecko. It was commissioned in 2008 and done by artist Harry McDaniel who says the gecko, which is not native to the area, came into the design whimsically and unintentionally. News 13 went to Debbie Ivester, the Assistant Director of Asheville Parks and Recreation to find the answer.
