Bruce Sterling and Liam Young at arcfinity.org

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

On June 16, urbanist Liam Young brought together an ensemble of thinkers, writers and artists to forge the collaborative blueprint for a future city. Arc's editor Simon Ings went along to rub shoulders with, among others, Warren Ellis, Rachel Armstrong and Bruce Sterling, and to film this wrap-up discussion between Sterling and Young. Under Tomorrow's Sky (http://undertomorrowssky.com) continues at MU art space, Eindhoven, with a first public exhibition from August 10, and further manifestations at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale in 2013. Follow http://www.arcfinity.tumblr.com for more information, and for a look behind the scenes at Arc, a digital quarterly about the future from the makers of New Scientist. Arc 1.1 The Future Always Wins and Arc 1.2 Post Human Conditions are available now: visit http://arcfinity.org for details.

  1. The first time I watched this video, I felt that what these two men were saying was very far from my understanding, on the periphery of my understanding. But after reading Mr. Sterling's blog for a long time now, and even having exchanged emails with him, and having watched a documentary on urban design, I have the context to understand most of the conversation.
