Buildings Printed by Robots - the Future of Architecture

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

3D printing has the potential to revolutionize the way humans manufacture and build things, from the small scale to the very large. By combining robots with 3D printing, KUKA partner Branch Technology, working with the architects at Gould Turner Group, is fundamentally shifting the way architects and designers approach not only the building of a final structure, but also the way that structure is designed from beginning to end. It's exciting stuff and sure to set your brain thinking about all the possibilities. 1. K, how do i print a kuka? :)
  2. This is now a chinese company. Say goodbye to german quality. Nicely done...
  3. German engineering!
  4. print the worlds largest benchy
  5. What ads about 3D printing are never mentioning is the speed of printing.
  6. Suggestion?
Try printing from the ceiling downwards to avoid collapse/sag when hot. (Even small bends weaken compressive members but if printed in tension the beams are being straightened by tension)
Hang robot from ceiling to increase print area
  7. Not a building.
  8. This is not new : ) Tower Aifla is the same motif architecture nad bridges.. .
  9. 3D print emergency shelter structures then wrap in plastic. People can hang clothing, pots and pans, LED lights, etc off the lattice work or tie a string across the structure to hang laundry to air dry. Perhaps that 3D structure wrapped in burlap with sand poured in the top would make a more effective Hesco barrier for military or flood control - print what you need on site. I think the 3D shaping would be great for artificial reef generation or the large aquarium market. Float makers (Mardi Gras, Rose Parade, Thanksgiving parade, etc) would go nuts for this ability to 3D print complex shapes.
  10. I think they always thinking for the future! It's amazing.
  11. 6 minute video and not one sequence of the printer working for more than 3 seconds. Couldn't you just let the camera stay on the printer without cutting so much? Over editing at its worst. Great tech though. Poorly presented.
