CARLOS CAMPOS S/S 2017 "Sabor Cubano" at New York Fashion Week

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Oh that crisp feel of a uniform! For his Spring/Summer 2017 collection Carlos Campos reimagined the look of a uniform to create a relaxed, unconditionally effortless and entirely chic image of a globetrotter. The man of the world in his view is dedicated by day, and leisurely by night. He is not fussy about his clothes, and comfortable in his skin. Inspirations for Carlos Campos’s creations come from the Cuban tobacco fields and crispness of Art Deco architecture. There is a feeling of enjoyment in every ensemble and a distinct “Sabor Cubano” (Cuban flavor). The new hybrid jacket aptly named “The Jackebera” blends the classic guayabera with impeccable tailoring. Ensemble after ensemble, we partake of exquisite construction and design – refined and understated. Light bombers, sport jackets, trenches move with the bodies as the models walk the stage. Trousers are fuller; wide leg cut is non-constricting of movement. Shirts are undone, exposing the skin. The collection is undeniably sexy. I love the choice of colors. Along with the signature dark navy and white, there is tobacco green, reminiscent of unpicked tobacco leaves, “Deco Stripe” print full of movement and visual texture, and a bold geometric pattern. The colors are reserved, yet very impactful. Mature masculinity speaks in every ensemble. I am particularly fond of an all white combination of a tropical wool double breasted tailored jacket with wide leg tropical wool trousers and white Havana woven shirt and silk scout scarf. Simply divine! #FashionScoop #CarlosCampos #SS17 #CFDA #NewYorkCity #Dallas www.fashionscoop.com
