Commonly known as Jurong Gardens, the Chinese Garden located in Jurong East, Singapore, gives you an impression that you have somehow got transported to ancient China! Here architecture and landscaping of ancient China greets you, though the garden is of recent origin. The garden was built in the year 1975, by Prof. Yuen-chen Yu, a renowned architect from Taiwan. The concept behind this garden is actually based upon the Chinese gardening art. The main noticeable characteristic of this wonderful garden is the perfect blend of nature with the fascinating architectural features pertaining to ancient, imperial China. Some of the important features of the garden are Stone Lion, Main Arch Building, Pai Hung Ch'iao' Bridge, Stone Boat and Tea House, Chinese Pavilion, Plateau, Tower, The Live Turtle & Tortoise Museum, Pagoda, Bonsai Garden, Garden of Abundance, You Yuan Buffet & Seafood Restaurant and The East Entrance. All these together manages to present you with some fascinating moments in ancient China, accompanied by verdant surroundings, while outside the twenty-first century Singapore zooms ahead.
