Airports, connected platforms all around the world, are the public squares and central stations of the 21st century. Points of departure or meeting places are characterized predominantly by a futuristic aesthetic and are rarely in resonance with their immediate surroundings. IAD’s proposal for the terminal building of Cusco-Chinchero (Peru) gathers the essence of this idea of Public Square while it stands out from this common and global image linked to this type of project, offering a building anchored between tradition and modernity while maintaining a respect for the local aesthetic lines and above all projecting an image that is simultaneously institutional, technological and sustainable. www.groupiad.com
