This is a clip from a movie about dada that I digitised from videotape. I no longer have the details of the original so please post them here if you have them. The press release which accompanied the opening of the nightclub reads: Cabaret Voltaire. Under this name a group of young artists and writers has been formed whose aim is to create a centre for artistic entertainment. The idea of the cabaret will be that guest artists will come and give musical performances and readings at the daily meetings. 14. This is great!...I'm a performance artist doing research on DADA for a grant and found this.  THANKS! My project is an offshoot from DADA being a traveling cabaret of ridiculousness provoking action in the audience on current issues.

16. "Dionysius the Aeropagate....Dionysuis the Aeropagate  =  DaDa  according to Ball ("Flight Out Of Time "  is a good read as is "Memories of a DaDa Drummer " by Huelsenbeck .  . Ball died of Cancer 1923 , just about the time Dada did ..  the first inklings of anti-art  but the first thing any of these moderns did was head straight to the galleries. Wonder if it would have happened if WWI  had never occurred .  Nihlism always comes out of war culturally.  Film Noir and existentialism from WWII , punk and disco from Vietnam.

19. Thank goodness people are finally recognizing Hugo Ball as the father of Dada.
    TristanTzara popularized Dada - made it into a movement - but at the expense of his own personal philosophy of nonsensical nihilism being accepted historically as being what Dada was all about. Whereas Ball is quoted " Art,for us, is not an end in itself, but an opportunity for true perception and criticism of the times we live in". Also  " Dada is profoundly moral". Search LONDON DADA sometime.
