Website: http://www.dawnstclare.com Academia.edu webpage: https://ou.academia.edu/DawnStClarePhD LinkedIn webpage: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dawnstclare/ I have taught over 150 sections of 45 different Humanities and Fine Arts courses to over 5,000 students at 7 institutions of higher learning. I have extensive, interdisciplinary, Humanities-based community college and university-level teaching experience and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Oklahoma – with emphases on Humanities, History, Religion, Women in Visual Arts, Literature, and Theater. I have an MA in Art History, also from the University of Oklahoma, with emphases on the History of Art and Architecture and the Socio-Philosophical Meaning of Sacred Architecture. Additionally, I have accredited minors in Humanities, History, and Renaissance Studies (18 graduate-level hours in each discipline). My particular academic teaching interests include Arts and Cultures from Ancient to Modern, Mythology and Religion, and the Humanities of Science and Medicine. At the core of my classroom teaching philosophy is the desire to educate, enthuse, and engage students toward the kind of active empathy one experiences when observing, for instance, a work of art in person – and to encourage critical thinking and free-flowing discussion about the course material we study and its relevance to life...beyond the classroom. The result of my work is, naturally, the successful, innovative, collaborative transmission of course content. But the result of our work (students and professor, together) goes beyond the mere requirements of syllabi. From the timeline of mysterious pre-historic fragments of art through to the latest, “trending” conceptual and contemporary expressions that are morphing and multiplying almost as quickly as the technologies that rule our 21st-century society – I facilitate, and accelerate, the Humanities literacy growth process.
