'Deco Digital' Chair exhibition - student process videos #dutdigifest

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Third year Interior Design students at the Durban University of Technology worked in conjunction with the Durban Art Deco society to design flat-pack chair prototypes for the Faculty of Arts and Design's third annual Digital Festival in 2016. Themes that inspired the chair designs were design principles and elements from the Art Deco style along with symbols of the digital age. The project was undertaken for the subjects Interior Design, Design Theory and Presentation Methods. Students were trained by Makerspace Durban to manufacture lazer-cut scaled model prototypes. They documented the learning process by producing reflective video diaries using their camera phones and created stop-frame animation of their designs using computer aided drawing software.
