Directing- And Evening of Choice

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

This is a short play that I directed. It is actually made up of 4 separate neofuturist plays, all combined into one, giving it an episodic like quality, along with some similar themes and ideas linking one to the next. The pieces are all from Too Much Light Makes the Baby go Blind: 30 Plays in 60 Minutes, which is manifesto of Neo-Futurist plays, predominantly by Greg Allen. The plays featured are Title, Choice of Vegetable, It's A Breeze, and Do What You Will in that order. I would like to thank my cast for doing a fantastic job, even though at times it was unclear what they were working towards. My cast: Shelby Liburd, Michaela Bulkley, Steven Forns, Alexander Clague, Alex Yamada, Jessie Bias (In order of appearance). I would also like to thank Sean Dillon for giving me a set of tools which I used to create this piece. Additionally, I would also like to thank David Chapman, for being the first to get me to dive into the world of theatre, and for showing me Neo-Futurism. Lastly, I want to mention my vision of this piece.... This piece is not meant to insult, or to offend. Its intended purpose is to bring up some issues that I find pressing in this day and age. The piece displays these issues, and how they are tackled by some, avoided by others. Lastly, I find the end of this piece very important: it is my statement concerning the choices that I have witnessed being made around me. People do not seem to like making choices, whether it is because they are afraid of commitment, or making a mistake, or choosing one party over another... Thus, they decide to not make a choice, and follow those around them. This is perhaps the biggest issue we face today, becoming a nation of sheep, ruled by wolves and owned by pigs.
