The joyful 2015 inauguration of the Europe Center, a vibrant international Buddhist center at the foothills of the German Alps, marked a historic day for Buddhism in the West. With the growth of Diamond Way Buddhism around the world, a central place was needed to connect all the meditation centers spreading rapidly in the West. Found in 2006, after 10 long years of searching, and open in 2008, it soon started to attract thousands of Diamond Way Buddhists for meditation and transmission courses and other events. Only a few years later, the original 100-year old complex of buildings was clearly at its limit and a plan to enlarge the EC and bring it to its full potential began to unfold. Five years of planning and construction was crowned on 2nd of August 2015 with an inauguration ceremony carried out by Thaye Dorje, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, the head of Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The movie depicts the journey of the Europe Center from the birth of its vision until the creation of a unique place where traditional Buddhist wisdom blends seamlessly with fresh Western style and modern architecture into a 21st century expression of contemporary international Buddhism. The success of the project stands on two main pillars - the great inspiration of our Buddhist teachers, Lama Ole and Hannah Nydahl, and the incredible generosity of thousands of the Diamond Way Buddhism community.
