Extreme Engineering - MegaStructures - Build it Bigger SEASON: 5 EPISODE: 6 - Amsterdam Futuristic Floating City S05E06 From the skyscrapers of Dubai to the amusement parks of Minnesota, Danny Forster travels the world to break down the most astounding, complex engineering feats to date. In Build It Bigger, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT starting on July 10, architect Danny Forster takes you inside some of the most head-scratching builds in the world. Join Danny as he meets the men and women tackling the unique challenges of constructing the tallest buildings, the most effective military tanks, the largest luxury cruise ships, and the most extreme thrill rides. Or get your workers safely to and from a worksite on a skyscraper that's 1,614 feet above street level? Or dig a water tunnel — along the San Adreas Fault and 1,000 feet below the earth's surface — without it collapsing on itself ... or flooding? Our intrepid host answers these puzzles and more. 1. I Don't want to spoil the fun.But the Ijmeer is not always above sea level. In fact most of the time it's not due to tides. And huge pumps keeping our inland waterlevels constant. Also would rather have my home boat rocking some more with rope than bolting it fixed highe on poles, when the water rises you're stuck.
  2. Dutch are prepared for the future. see level rising so what.
  3. How safe is Amsterdam from rising sea levels of several meters? I say in a century the Dutch may not be able to tame Mother Nature and keep dry.
  4. Okay, the floating home and office building engineering is amazing and where does the sewage and drainage systems for bathroom shower, kitchen and laundry room water and human waste go to because the area is surrounded by water, under water, and saturate with water??? The Dutch did not tell, show and explain how are they solved the drainage system and where it goes to for disposal. I think the waste is the real problem here. Amsterdam is like Venice, Italy and I wonder how the governments control the human waste??? A city under water and surrounded by water the drainage pipelines system has got to be a big problem job here, it must be hundreds of thousands of pipelines systems runs to solid ground to store it.
  5. What??????? I cannot believe they aren't using a pump hose for the concrete pour!!
  6. "Hang on buddy. This is my first bulldozer drive!"
    "WHAT?"

    Win.
  7. I would love to visit Amsterdam. I had connecting flights from the Amsterdam airport but I want to visit it. The dutch probably has the best architecture . It has it's imprints all over the world and the dutch are the masters
  8. What is the meaning of that word that he says all the time lOrge?
  9. looks like a place for the rich
  10. So ... if I live in one of these house-boats off the coast of California just outside their jurisdiction but still in the jurisdiction of the US, I won't be subject to Cali's stupid laws? Hmmmm ...
  11. Dayum he wasn't kidding when he said Amsterdam cant expand anymore its a sight on google earth
  12. "Like parallel parking a car, they first bring in the front end, then rotate the back end". doesn't make sense.  Opposite:P
