FM-2030: Are You Transhuman?

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

This archive file was compiled from audio of a discussion futurist FM 2030 held at the University of California, February 6th, 1994. In this discussion 2030 laid out an overview of his 'transhuman' philosophy and held a back and forth with other people present in the discussion. Discussion and debate included items such as the value of researching 'indefinite lifespan' technologies directly as opposed to (or in addition to) more traditional approaches, such as researching cures for specific diseases. The excerpts in this archive file present a sort of thesis of FM 2030's transhuman ideas. About FM 2030: FM 2030 was at various points in his life, an Iranian Olympic basketball player, a diplomat, a university teacher, and a corporate consultant. He developed his views on transhumanism in the 1960s and evolved them over the next thirty-something years. He was placed in cryonic suspension July 8th, 2000. Comments

  1. I'm ready.
  2. Cool idea, it's like we can take evolution into our own hands. Maybe that is the next step in evolution? Maybe us taking control over our own evolution, is the natural evolutionary path?
  3. taxes are theft
  4. I hope meet and thank him in the future.
  5. He was born about 50 years too early for himself.
  6. I like how it said that we cannot consider ourselves exclusively human. I liked his perspective, There was a lot of information in this video that was an overload but his passion mixed with the music made it work. Some would argue that death sets them free but thinking that we can replace our parts is cool. There are already artificial hearts and I wonder if we can get to the point where one day we can have an artificial brain. We are on the right path
  7. What a kook. Changed his name, was transfluid, despised the nuclear family which is currently being eradicated by UN cowards like FM-2030 ( Fereidoun M. Esfandiary (Persian: فریدون اسفندیاری‎‎).
  8. i head this man´s voice and i thought did i left my tech support in line, or did i accidently called it then OOH it was youtube.
  9. You guys need to get more popular.
  10. I totally love this idea that we can eventually replace our organic parts with artificial parts and live longer and maybe even seemingly forever but if over-population seems like an issue now in 2016 how would we handle it when people start living a thousand years or more? It seems it would be very easy for this to become an elitists thing where only the superior or the rich and powerful get to live on and the majority aka the poor do not.
  11. There is so much pseudointellectualism in the world, it's hard to recognize genuine intellectualism when we see it.
The man said a lot of things I agree with. But I have to confess my first thought: "Oh, no, is this some puppet organization of the Scientologists?"
At first I thought the name FM-2030 was very silly, but when I read his Wikipedia article, I realized he kinda had a good point!
  12. just in case someone does not know , there are transhumanist partys http://www.transhumanistparty.org/
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3agaVwt0tb8 Check out the trailer for the movie Self/less, that details the consequences of transhumanism.
  14. I like the ideas that FM 2030 had and I believe we are eventually going to reach the point where death will be eliminated from the life we live now. Our technologies are growing greater and faster each day and eventually we will reach the point where we are “free.”
  15. I absolutely agree. The time is coming when we'll be able to overcome nature
  16. I'm not sure how ready I am. Lots of advances: Some are quite exciting but others are pretty scary. There are so many problems to address before addressing the tragedy of death. Then, there's always the issue of feeding, clothing, housing, entertaining everyone. Quite ironic that he's dead isn't it. Is good to have some optimism though.
  17. I identify with a lot of these transhumanist views, but do I consider myself a fully committed transhuman? I'm not yet sure. I'm am, however, reading FM's book: Are You a Transhuman? What I like about it are the imbedded quizzes used to develop your score which helps indicates if you are transhuman, progressing towards it, or not transhuman. The book is a little dated which is likely to impact on my score, but I'll have to post my results once I'm finished.
  18. Love this
  19. pure sophistry.

we are multidimensional beings not mere animals ... the premise of transhumanism is wrong .   no ai can ever compete with a fully realized multidimensional human.  and never will.  it is all a trojan horse for eugensics, slavery, and population reduction, because the elites want to prevent the awakening of the multidimensional human.   they will fail for their whole agenda has one flaw.   they and their technology are trapped in the lower dimensions.  we are not.   when we realize this all AI will be dissolved.  consciousness thinks faster than light.  it defies physics because it is not bound by this universe.   look at the power of your own unlimited potential as multidimensional humans and you will realize that you are the immortal being that you have been seeking and you do not need a robotic body!!!!!!!!!!    peace
  20. Can't wait to see more of the big things from GPA!
