Futurist Manifesto - A brief Introduction

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

As an introduction to Manifestos, we were told to look at existing ones on a research basis. The Futurist Manifesto was really interesting to me - it was a radical rethinking of what we need to do in order to move forward. The Futurists believed that it was essential to destroy our past to do this - meaning tearing down museums, libraries, academies etc. They believed that if we don't have the past to look back on, surely everything we make from then on will be truly new? Does that necessarily mean better though? It's a very controversial statement if ever there was one. But I like this for the way it makes you think - what could be the benefits of doing something so dramatic to modern culture? Does our past hold us back from creating great new things? I used this video as an introduction to a class presentation on the Manifesto itself. Enjoy the video!
