Havana Cuba, What to Expect

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

In this short video I explain some of the unique aspects of visiting Cuba from getting around to getting a room. The dual currency/economy makes even the simple task of changing money an interesting experience! Due to food shortages Cuba isn't exactly a great culinary destination. Compared to the rest of Central America it can be quite pricey for tourists. Be aware local wages can be as low as $15 USD a month and as tourism provides such a great influx of cash, there are many tourist touts and rampant prostitution. In the same way that tourists visit Detroit to photograph the 'ruin porn' Havana is quite visually stunning. Most of the cars are big and bold American made pre-1960 models and the architecture features a stunning array of styles from colonial to neo-classic, art deco to art nouveau. Unfortunately for the residents, many of the buildings are in dangerous states of disrepair. It is not uncommon to see people living in a house next to another house that has crumbled into rubble! Cuba has been one of my favourite destinations, apart from being a photographers dream, I really liked the people. They were friendly and proud, honest and humorous. I would suggest if people have been thinking of visiting Cuba, do it immediately. When American's start visiting in huge numbers, it will change forever! 3. I'm going to Cuba this Sunday and I didn't understand the Canadian dollar deal thing.. what do u mean they "divided" ?
  4. When I get to Havana what is the cheapest reliable Casa to stay at ? When I convert my US dollars to CUC currency is there a way to get the CUC money exchanged faster in the US for a better exchange rate ? I plan on going to Cuba from Florida in late Jan. Thanks for any info.

  6. It all goes to the Cuban army
  7. great economic set-up they have there. In foct it is straight out if the Soviet book!!! No wonder thhose countries end up so fucked up as a result!!!
  8. I've never heard anybody pronounce the Cuban currency as " kook " . It's pronounced like the letters " C-U-C ".
  9. I love the car with the blue lights at the beginning
  10. Havana looks TOTALLY DIFFERENT now then in Assassin's Creed® IV Black Flag, but still, it looks awesome
  11. Cuba is like sewage.
  12. i just back from there and hated it. however you picked up on some very good points and if i d seen this video before i went there I would of had a more open mind and been less intimated
  13. If your an American bring plenty of cash, Embargo also means no transactions between US banks and cuban banks, American credit and bank cards are worthless. If your not used to traveling the world stay home Cuba is not for spoiled springbreakers, unless you stay at an all inclusive resort in Varadero or Cayo coco, But all that aside, best people in the world, I wish everyone had the love the cuban people have, I'm at a lose of words for the hospitality the cuban people showed me
  14. Another colossal monument to Socialism.
  15. I really hope that a good leader runs Cuba one day. It could be such a beautiful place if it just cleaned it's building and became a democratic socialist or capitalist country. Communism has ruined another country.
  16. I brought Canadian dollars in february. at the resort we stayed at they exchanged 1$ for .75 peso's which is what the us dollar is worth. CUC is pegged at the us dollar. I exchanged my money back to canadian $ at the airport and exchanged at the proper exchange rate too.
  17. One thing that is touched on briefly in this video but should have been emphasised is the necessity to learn some Spanish if you are going to visit Cuba. Once you get 50 meters away from your hotel, pretty much nobody speaks English
  18. Many other places that are better to visit.
  19. Any money you leave there goes to castro.
