In 1973, the 110-acre (45 ha) district included 272 contributing buildings. They are considered the finest and most concentrated collection of Victorian and Edwardian residential architecture in Virginia. It includes notable examples of the Gothic Revival and Romanesque Revival styles. Located in the district is the separately listed Langhorne House, Penn-Wyatt House, and the Sutherlin Mansion, the last official residence of President Jefferson Davis. If present trends continue by 2050 as many as 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes. Almost 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. Only 11.1% of Americans with prediabetes have been told they have it. 2,213,000 people in Virginia have prediabetes. Annually 5,089 youth are newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and 18,436 with type 1 diabetes. Growing prevalence of diabetes in Virginia was estimated at 873,634 people. 49,000 people in Virginia are diagnosed with diabetes annually. An estimated 207,000 of Virginia’s population have diabetes but don’t know it. Annually Virginia spends about $8.2 billion for diabetes. For now, doctors don't know the exact reason that lead to T1D, but they do know that your genes play a role. They also know that Type 1 Diabetes can result when something in the environment, like a virus, tells your immune system to go after your pancreas. Most of people with T1D have signs of this attack, called autoantibodies. They are presented in almost everyone who has the condition when their blood sugar is high. Type 1 diabetes can happen along with other autoimmune diseases, like Grave's disease or vitiligo. The symptoms are often subtle, but can become severe.
