Comments

  1. If a robot becomes smart enough that it can learn and recognize the surrounding world what happens if AI becomes so aware that they eventually realize they are enslaved by man and decide to no longer work?
  2. Fuck it, I'm going to say it and honestly this should be our approach to this issue.

We should definitely keep advancing scientifically in regards to space exploration and other such aspects, but please.. please please hear me out, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM AUTOMATION!

To people not see the super obvious flaw in this?

Take away jobs from a very large percentage of the population, replace them with cheap robots to make your products supposedly to generate a profit....

Well guess what, those people who you fired to make room for robots?

THEY WON'T FUCKING BUY YOUR PRODUCTS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO MONEY!

That's not even pointing out the societal impact this would have on us. 95% of Construction jobs belong to men, as if the traditional family model hasn't already been undermined and degenerated.

Even if you still have the other 75% of the population keeping their jobs, this will still tremendously impact the economy in a negative way and it would have a ripple effect into everything else within our lives.

But it seems like nobody cares, so I'll just pray I meet death before the day that an emotionless hunk of steel replaces me.
  3. But why is it bad? Maybe inevitable employment isn't the future of humans. Maybe we won't have to work to solve the world's problems because the bots cando that for us. Jobs need not apply to humans
  4. In I. Asimov's short "The Evitable Conflict", the last story of the I, Robot series, the "machines" (powerful positronic brains) have taken control of human's destiny. The character Stephen Byerley explains:
"The population of Earth knows that there will be no unemployment, no overproduction or shortages. Waste and famine are words in history books. And so the question of ownership of the means of production becomes obsolescent. Whoever owned them (if such a phrase has meaning), a man, a group, a nation, or all mankind, they could only be utilized as the machines directed. ---- Not because men were forced to but because it was the wisest course and men knew it."
Later, he says that humans never knew its way into its own future, "...always at the mercy of economical and sociological forces it did not understand". The machines understand these forces, and are able to do control them to better humanity, "having as they do, the greatest of weapons at their disposal, the absolute control of our economy".
These machines though, had the first law and the beginning of the zeroth law of robotics guiding them.
  5. i'm studying for programer so... i'll have a job: To get rid of your jobs
  6. UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME
  7. this is why we need to start discussing a universal basic income.
  8. the part where he says "these jobs are over" sends a chill right through me!
  9. so...... what the hell will people do?
  10. Three words:

    Basic. Universal. Income.
  11. Welp... Guess that only leaves us one option. Purge
  12. This video is the reason I took Computer Science at GCSE... good job :P
  13. one of the best videos on YouTube
  14. Question: will they be replacing astronomers? I want to be one.
  15. why are most of these videos just sad
  16. Watson's day job is to make tons of money for IBM shareholders.
  17. Thank you for this positive video and look into the future. I understand that well at least theoretically the so much afraid Terminator's future is possible but so does the civilization vol.2 - new, "utopian" we could say world without money, wars and with abundance. Let's try to make this scenario and not the other one.
  18. Robots already write music though
  19. Impressive video. :)
  20. Will humans still work in a non so long futur ?
I mean, when strong AI will be able to learn anything and correct itself, wont it make every single job we have much better than a human ? And I really mean every single job, from basic ones to research, aerospace, and even art or philosophy.
And if so, what would be the place and the next objectives for humans ?

Other question, be still related : if our civilisation reachs the goal to make strong AI and the robots work, search, and make spacial conquest for us, can't we assume that it's the point any extraterrestrial advanced civilation would also reach ? And so, it is much more likely that our first contact with such a civilisation would be with their robots rather than the actual aliens.
