The Church saw to the restoration of the 28,000-square-foot historic building, which dates from the 1930s and sits just a few minutes away from downtown, on the Vermont Avenue corridor in South Los Angeles. After the restoration, the historic building was dedicated as the Church of Scientology Community Center in Inglewood on November 5, 2011. It is designed to serve every nearby neighborhood and provide the Church’s humanitarian initiatives to uplift this community as a whole. Ron Hubbard Community Auditorium, designed for community events and as a meeting ground for residents of all denominations. The Center further features numerous classrooms and seminar facilities for a full range of civic programs, including a complete literacy and tutoring center. As a part of their historical restoration projects, The Church of Scientology restores old buildings to their original glory, transformed to become new Church of Scientology Ideal Organizations (Ideal Orgs). They not only provide the ideal facilities to service Scientologists on their ascent to greater states of spiritual awareness and freedom, they are also designed to serve as a home for the entire community and a meeting ground of cooperative effort to uplift citizens of all denominations. The cross in scientology was and still is used after L.Ron.Hubbards death for, as he stated, to represent the religious part of scientology where people can gather together to share the same belief (being totally free) in their own church, that members had requested him to allow them to form,he did not fully agree with the idea, but gave the people what they wanted as he was a great believer in Freedom and Liberty.
