Comments

  1. the paintings were not framed in the traditional sense but Mondrian put his own frames around the painting so they in the viewers eye line.
  2. White Stripes
  3. RIETVELD
  4. thanks a lot, very helpful!
  5. Thanks for clarity of perception........ I found it hard to relate to Modernist......
  6. why didn't you mention gerrit rietveld? I mean you show the Rietveld-Schröder house and the red and blue chair...
  7. Thank you so much! We're studying De Stijl in my History of Art class, and to be honest I was totally lost on the whole thing UNTIL I found your video. Total clarity right here. Thank you :D
  8. Just a tip of the hat from one Spencer who appreciates art ,to another.
  9. It's great that somebody is taking the time to discuss great art with other people online. Most video people make don't teach you anything, so it's nice when someone posts something interesting and educational on YouTube.
  10. De Schtaaaahl -_-
  11. Good technique for architecture but very ugly for paintings, it doesn't express feelings at all, neither gives a message to the viewer.
  12. thanks man! helped me so much in my presentation on Mondrian :)
  13. Thank you so much, really helped me with my schoolproject.
  14. very good, thnyyuu
  15. good stuff mate, informative. I belive beladoze is just trying to be an arsehole. Abstraction doesn't need to mean complete departure from reality. Picasso might not have liked the term abstract, but I saw Guernica in Madrid the other day.. seemed pretty fuckin abstract to me.
  16. dude this is the most informative thing ive seen on youtube about anything. ive taken three god forsaken years of this stuff and couldn't tell you a sentence haha I got B's tho! :) good job man. don't listen to negative feed back unless its constructive bro. make money dude.. just use it to buy a new mic haha!
  17. Yes, that's completely right. You pronounce it like you would say ''stale'' in English. Enjoying your video's a lot. Peace.
  18. that's a good way of thinking about Picasso and maybe cubism in general. i like it.
  19. Cubism maintain links with the everyday life trough text or "clues" that might allow to identify elements. Abstraction suppress completely these links by expressing the interior reality of the artist (as Kandinsky would say).
  20. Picasso hated to be called abstract cause his paintings keep a link (sometimes tiny but still) with our reality (sometimes trough text or "clues" that help identify elements of the everyday life). Abstraction cancel these links by expressing the interior reality of the artist (as Kandinsky would say).
