Learn more about us through http://savekidsdonate.jdrftypeone.com Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin. It occurs when the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, called beta cells. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D, and—at present—nothing you can do to get rid of it. While people with T1D rely on insulin therapy to control their blood sugar, insulin is not a cure nor does it prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious side effects. Even with intensive disease management, a significant portion of their day is still spent with high or low blood-sugar levels, placing people with T1D at risk for devastating complications such as heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputation. Meg & Friends on the channel Today made a broadcast about the street demonstration across America dedicated to JDRF and diabetes official day – November 22nd. A great number of people, regardless the November frost, came out to show their sympathy and consideration to all those people with diabetes. Every year in the same day all around the country thousands of people come out to support JDRF. People give interviews and try to attract attention to all those diseased people and to the leading global organization. JDRF works every day to change the reality of this disease for millions of people—and to prevent anyone else from ever knowing it—by funding research, advocating for government support of research and new therapies, ensuring new therapies come to market and connecting and engaging the T1D community. http://www.purepathcapitalgroup.com/Leadership.html JDRF Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter www.alfredgerriets.com Alfred Gerriets JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.
