Kilburn state 2010

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

A tour of the famous Kilburn State with David Neale whose passion for the building and its historic Wurlitzer organ ensured that it can still be played within the marvellous 1930s former cinema (now a church). Organist Michael Wooldridge plays a concert.

  1. Is there any way to get in touch with David Neale? If he was at Kilburn when organist George Wright performed, I'd like to hear his story regarding that. I'm writing GW's biography and can be reached at georgewrightbook@gmail.com or via http://www.GeniusOfGeorgeWright.com Thanks kindly! -Bill Coale
  2. I love this Art deco Building ...and the Wurlitzer of Course ;-)
  3. Hi, I'm looking to get in touch with David Neale about the opening night of the Kilburn State. I'm the President of the Gracie Fields Appreciation Society, and obviously she was at the opening night's performance. I'm looking for any further information, and also the full news reel of the opening -which was tantalisingly used in a 1999 Wurlitzer video with John Mann. PLEASE can you help in any way to get me in touch with David? Thanks!!
  4. THANKS ..

  12. Dear David Thank you very much for sharing this great video about the history of the Kilburn State. I was fortunate to hear the organ in action one Sunday morning when Ken Stroud was playing. Many owe you Len a great deal of gratitude for keeping the Organ in its original home and for keeping the building from falling apart. At least the building is being preserved and I trust maintained. I believe Bishop John Francis to be a good man who I hope you will be able to work with in the future.
