Landscape Lectures: Ken Smith

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Ken Smith is one of a new generation of landscape architects; at home in the worlds of art, architecture and urbanism. He is committed to creating landscapes, especially parks and other public spaces, as a way of improving the quality of urban life. His work pushes beyond traditional landscape typologies—plaza, street, and garden—toward landscapes that draw on the diverse cultural traditions and influences of the contemporary urban scene. Recent work includes the 1300-acre Orange County Great Park in California and the Museum of Modern Art roof garden in New York City.
