Le Corbusier: why he is adored and detested

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Le Corbusier was an internationally influential Swiss artist, architect and designer. His dubious associations with totalitarian regimes have failed to diminish his reputation as one of the most inspirational artists of the 20th century. (SF/swissinfo.ch)

  1. Vile.
  2. Interesting that the house that he built for his parents was not like the monstrosities he built for the public.
  3. Thank you.
  4. Modern architecture was tooooooo much based on concrete. Brutal concrete ("brutalism") was, IMHO, an extremely ugly architecture. Unfortunately (and uncredibly), this was considered as "modern", as "progress", in the 1960s and 1970s.
Fortunately, this era is over. Long live the postmodernism!
  5. I liked his paintings and sculptures, but when it came to architecture he was a good all round megalomaniac. Too right James Bond Villains should base their homes on his grand ideas ;)
  6. His city designs are an excellent physical expression of Communist and Fascist totalitarianism.
  7. Wow
