The Paris Métro or Métropolitain (French: Métro de Paris) is the rapid transit Metro system in Paris, France. It has become a symbol of the city, noted for its density within the city limits and its uniform architecture influenced by Art Nouveau. The network's sixteen lines are mostly underground and run to 214 km (133 mi) in length. There are 301 stations (384 stops), of which 62 facilitate transfer to another line.

7. Ah, the parisian Metro...its main advantage is to have a very extensive network (although many stations are useless), and decent fares. All the rest, trains, stations (well many of them) are derelict, old, and dirty. Ok, it was built over a century ago, but so where the Berlin and London systems too, both of which are much better (even though the tube is quite pricey) and user-friendly. Add to that strikes, unhelpful and rude RATP employees, and no air con during summer. I have been to most of Europe and Northern America as well , this is worst subway system you'll ever find. I use it regularly as a french, I know what I'm talking about.
