Los Angeles - a 3 day visit

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

We started out visit to Los Angeles with LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) where we heard Kathleen Grace on its free Friday jazz evening. The next day we went to the J Paul Getty Museum at The Getty Centre. At the centre we went on tours of the art displays, the architecture (Richard Meier architect) and the gardens (designer Laurie Olin) all of which are superb. We then had a look around the Groves Farmers Market. We had our breakfast the next day at “Joan’s on Third”, an LA institution, before visiting Beverly Hills and Hollywood on our way to the popular Griffith Observatory for sunset. The last day we went to the pretty Venice beach and hired bikes to take the cycle track past the Venice boardwalk to Santa Monica and back. Before catching our flight to San Francisco we took a walking tour of downtown LA past the futuristic Walt Disney Concert Centre designed by Frank Gehry, the Museum of Contemporary Art which closed on Mondays so we had to miss that, Grand Park, the Civic Centre and the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels, named after the 1781 mission “El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ángeles” from which Los Angeles gets its name.
