For this project, I've created my own representation of a "Mechanical Utopia" using a large pencil drawing, inspired by an Italian architect Sant'Elia's "La Città Nuova" (The New City). Sant'Elia was part of the futuristic movement and almost always represented his work using exterior views, but not the interior. This detailed pencil drawing is an interior depiction of what his concepts may look like. This concept shows the thriving of civilization within a single, colossal, futuristic interior of a building. Commercial, recreational, and residential spaces are all integrated into this monumental building. Everything is connected with everything else through a large circulatory network including catwalks, elevators, escalators, ramps, walkways, and even roads. Very evidently, a large interior street runs through the interior of this building, accommodating vehicular traffic and ultimately connecting the people to the city beyond. This song was composed to relate to this piece of artwork and architectural representation. Hope you enjoy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Song Title: Machines Of The Future Artist: Michael Tai Completion: Feb 2013 Software: Garageband Live instruments: Digital piano Background image: Title: A Futuristic Interior Space of a Mechanical Utopia Artist: Michael Tai Completion: Feb 2013 Medium: Graphite on Paper Size: 24"x36"
