The Samuel-Novarro House, built in 1928, was designed by Lloyd Wright (Frank Lloyd Wright's son). The four-level, Art Deco/Mayan style home, was built on the side of a hill with concrete and oxidized copper throughout and is considered to be the most beautifully sited home in Los Angeles. On July 17, 1974, the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Board declared the house a historic-cultural monument. It became officially known as the Samuel-Novarro House. The house gets it's name from Actor Ramon Novarro and his business manager Louis Samuel. Novarro had the house built for Samuel only to take ownership later when he discovered Samuel was embezzling from him to play the stock market, not a wise thing to do in the fall of 1929. When I discovered the house some years ago I thought it might make a good build. Looking at the design and dimensions of the houses details, from the windows to the copper clad treatments on the main facade. Everything about this house makes it a good minecraft build. The window designs and the layout and spacing of boxie features are all in the same scale and having a flat roof always helps. All came together very well, not much need for creative texturing. The art deco style allows so much character and creativity that I plan on doing more builds in that style, homes and maybe larger buildings (perhaps Bullock's Wilshire).
