NASA future concept spaceship - The Drake Explorer space craft

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

The Drake (named after the famous explorer) is a futuristic explorer space craft. It is capable of atmospheric entry and can carry an ATV (all terrain vehicle) which is deployed from the drop platform. The ships is has a very reasonable poly count (just under 75,000 polys) and has numerous moving parts such as a number of thrusters, loading ramp and a drop platform.

Comments

  1. without money we'll build that now !
  2. This music sounds familiar, what is it?
  3. Of this is just a fantasy for the next century
  4. reminds me of star citizen
  5. Totally horseshit. No spacecraft will ever look like this.
  6. do not use pistons or rotors! space engineers
  7. this is better than building space elevator. 100% reusability a must.
  8. I don`t remember NASA using those edges on windows, they don`t like it because it`s harder to hold pressure and seal, it look`s like it`s all for show instead of practical, those engines would not turn down at the time of re entry like that, it would be crazy, at least without some kind of energy shielding (of course it does not exist hehehe) anyway, it looks all wrong.

those engines on the front looks wrong hahahaah i don`t know :D
  9. why dont u high speed magnetic rail launchers for space crafts..built it on the side of mountains ..
  10. Um, this isn't a NASA design.
  11. because you need wings in space
  12. Is there anything on here that is serious and relevant. Apparently this is for space nerds and space geeks and maybe a few dreamers.
  13. Someone watched the "Alien" movies once too often...
  14. This is nothing more than some game developer's idea of what a "spaceship" looks like while trying to sell it as a NASA concept. Complete crap.
  15. I don't think this is NASA's future concept, I think it's Shaun Williams' future concept
  16. Looks like the Colonial Space Marines Drop Ship from "Aliens".
  17. Too fancy
  18. Nostromo
  19. I think I like it I hope it not high acceleration when I became a astronaut!
  20. future concepts, at least 100years from now
