NewSpace 2011: What Technology will Bring us From LEO to Permanent Settlements

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

As recent technological developments point to, near term destinations in LEO are set to become "Space Hotels"--small research and lodging facilities capable of supporting a small number of individuals for a short amount of time. Once this happens, the next logical question becomes-- "how will we move forward from today--launching of small hotels into Earth orbit--and move towards larger scale settlement architectures? What kind of technologies and investments are we going to need? Panelists will provide a variety of perspectives towards the future of this key field. Panelists: Taber MacCallum(Moderator) Co-Founder, Paragon Space Systems Joe Carroll Tether Applications, Inc Marc M. Cohen Architect P.C., Astrotecture Dr. John Hogan Advanced Life Support Systems, NASA Ames Space Bioengineering Irene Schneider CEO & Founder, Ihrenes Space Enterprises

  1. With the radiation's of space if there is just a micro hole in a solid sheet of titanium of even lead the radio activity would build up and actually be higher in side then out side so even if there was a completely sealed container radiation  would be detected .Now just as we use magnetic coils to contain plasma in the center of our plasma chamber's the study it we have a strong feeling that even magnetic shielding is not enough to protect the bio forms and astronauts  out in space the frequency's of rays have to be dealt with as for these fiber optic's would have to be so much that it's cost would be ineffective so a thermal glass bottle with lazor light will have to be tested out there to see if those ray's of light could be lowered or negatived as well.
  2. Because it's been talked about so long but we're only just now starting to walk the walk.
  3. Why am I getting the impression that there is nothing new to say about space?
