2. I'm really sorry he's gone - what a loss to culture and to the intellectual life of this country - a real oasis of sanity and enlightenment in today's media landscape. Interesting to see video footage of him, since I'd only ever seen still pictures of him before - and in those he looked completely different from how I had hitherto visualized him from hearing his A.B.C. broadcasts. Haven't been able to get him out of my mind today, after yesterday's shock of hearing this sad news.
