Quinlan Terry, Architect

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

A tribute to the great architect Quinlan Terry. This is a tribute video. I am not associated with Quinlan Terry. Visit Quinlan Terry's website on: http://www.qftarchitects.com/ Nowadays, Quinlan Terry is in danger of being forgotten because so many of his buildings are private houses that the public never sees. He says he wishes he could have built more public architecture so that ordinary people could share the pleasure of classical buildings, but the architectural establishment was against him. The glass and steel 'oil refineries', the hideous gherkins - will fall down, he believes, in 40 years, whereas his will last for centuries. Given that most of his commissions come from private clients, or from property developers. He is a deeply serious believer in classical architecture, who spent his youth measuring old buildings in Rome and drawing every detail of their ornamentation in exquisite penmanship. It would be wise to start using classic styles again, and we need to get over our post-WWII fear of classic and ornate things. modern architecture quickly becomes ugly to the general public after its newness wares off, then it just becomes an eyesore (except a few structures). The public has never fallen in love with modern architecture like they were 'supposed' to. The same with much modern art. "Have you ever looked at a bizarre building design and wondered, "What were the architects thinking?" Have you looked at a supposedly "ecological" industrial-looking building, and questioned how it could be truly ecological? Or have you simply felt frustrated by a building that made you uncomfortable, or felt anger when a beautiful old building was razed and replaced with a contemporary eyesore? You might be forgiven for thinking "these architects must be blind!" New research shows that in a real sense, you might actually be right." - Quinlan Terry

  3. AMAZING THUMBS UP FOR HIM AND PRICE CHARLES THE DUKE OF CORNWALL FOR HIS NEW VILLAGE CALLED POUNDBURRY BUILT IN TRADITIONAL STYLE
  4. Why do we find this architecture so pleasing and satisfying?
  5. This man knows what pure beauty is.
  6. Thanks God for Quinlan Terry. Brilliant, quality work. If only there were more like him. then perhaps there would be less of these shouty, disposable junk airfix kit buildings we have to endure.
  7. Lets see him build an airport.
  8. The person, named Ruben Garcia, that disliked this video messaged me saying (quote) "We are in 21th Century. Stop building shit."
  9. Stunning work, perfect proportions
  10. Thank you for mentioning A. Ciseri, I have never heard of him before and the painting is most interesting. Can you perhaps tell me, where it can be visited?
  11. Yes, a great painting by Antonio Ciseri.
  12. Ecce homo!
  13. If only there were more like him.
