Romania 2012 - Bucharest, the Capital City

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Bucharest is the capital municipality, cultural, industrial, and financial centre of Romania, the largest city located in the southeast of the country, and lies on the banks of the Dâmbovița River. In the period between the two World Wars, the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned Bucharest the nickname of "Little Paris". Although buildings and districts in the historic city centre were heavily damaged or destroyed by war, earthquakes, and above all Ceaușescu's program of systematization, many survived. It was first mentioned in documents as early as 1459. Since then it has gone through a variety of changes, becoming the state capital of Romania in 1862 and steadily consolidating its position as the centre of the Romanian mass media, culture and arts. Its eclectic architecture is a mix of historical (neo-classical), interbellum (Bauhaus and Art Deco), Communist-era and modern. In recent years, the city has been experiencing an economic and cultural boom. Economically, Bucharest is the most prosperous city in Romania and is one of the main industrial centres and transportation hubs of Eastern Europe. The city has a broad range of convention facilities, educational facilities, cultural venues, shopping arcades, and recreational areas.

  3. Bucharest my lovvveee
  4. I'll tell you it's better than Ukraine ^)))
  7. Let's talk history. The great powers of Europe abandoned Romania when attacked by the Barbarians, Turks, and the Soviet Union. THEY FOUGHT WHILE EUROPE HAS FLOURISHED and where forgotten at the end of the European civilization. They did not deserve that. Corruption and Poverty was the result of their heroic actions. They tried the hardest to survive as a nation and they did. That's why there might be potholes left, but there are many other good things for the eye to see. It's up to you.
  9. I went to Sofia 3 years ago, and it seemed at that time better looking than Bucharest, better infrastructure also
  10. Bucharest is great,a wish the capital of my country Sofia had the look of that beautifyl city :).Well done romanians!
  11. ciudades museo.
