From skyscrapers to office buildings to museums, laminated glass has become a popular building material used in facades and interiors. Compared to traditional glass, laminated glass made with Saflex®, a tough protective interlayer made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), bonds together between two panes of glass under heat and pressure. Once sealed together, the glass "sandwich" behaves as a single unit and looks like normal glass. Saflex® interlayer provides protection upon breakage or impact from forced entry, storms or fallout by remaining intact, holding the glass fragments in place. Saflex® also provides solar and UV control to help manage heat buildup and create a comfortable environment for tenants, and help reduce fading and damage to furnishing from ultraviolet radiation. Noise reduction can also be reduced up to 50% providing a significantly higher level of sound abatement capabilities and greater dampening performance.
