School Planning and Design: Christian Long - studio interview with DK. June 4 -- Students from the Victoria University's school of Architecture and Design met in the Wellington U.S. Embassy digital studio to participate in a thought provoking discussion with Christian Long of Cannon Design and The Third Teacher+. The event provided the students with a great opportunity to be inspired by an experienced and influential figure in the education and design world. Mr. Long frequently speaks on the international stage about innovating school planning using 21st century technology, and he has spearheaded multiple design initiatives, particularly for youth. The discussion focused on looking at the world's challenges differently and exploring how young people can use design solutions to better their communities. Students particularly appreciated his comments on career development and challenges in the New Zealand environment. He described the opportunities they will likely face and how the future will be very different for the next generation of architects and designers. The discussion concluded with a reception, and plans are in the works to hold a follow up discussion through a Google Hangout session.
