Howdy, My name is Dan Barrett. I am a digital artist specializing in 3d environments for interactive media and video games. This is a scene that I've been building in Unity engine as a personal project, and I wanted to put something online so that I could share it with you guys. The basic premise is that this is an ancient space station discovered by humans at some point in the future. Since then it has turned into a major trade post with a number of street bazaars occupying its corridors. I felt inspired after looking at imagery of Arabic Soukhs and decided that I wanted to try a sci-fi take on the concept. I drew stylistic inspiration from a number of sources. Primarily, Blade Runner, Moorish architecture, and the architecture of Halo's Forerunners. This environment is completely modular, all of its major pieces are designed to snap together like legos. Everything currently implemented in it is also my own creation including models, textures, shaders, and audio. I plan on eventually including gameplay as well as implementing a procedural system that would assemble the level in a random pattern at each startup. This is still a work in progress, so I would love to hear your thoughts and comments. Gameplay suggestions are particularly welcome. I look forwards to hearing what you have to say.
