Sketchup Home Design 6 Bedroom, Futuristic Home Design With Natural Lighting

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

While giving an architect some interesting new ideas, this design also give him or her thousands of new issues to consider. The buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright had many problems and some of his structures were torn down, because they were so expensive to maintain. You can't be all design and pay no attention to maintenance. My designs are purely abstract and I admit that I have not solved any of the technical problems. I'm just having fun on Google Sketchup and dreaming of homes that aren't boxes. I'm dreaming of a different way to build homes so that we use more steel and less wood. It seems so archaic to use wood, as the main structure. I'd rather use steel and cover it with cement and glass and save the wood for the doors, inside. Wood is beautiful and there are thousands of types and colors to choose from and thousands of ways to carve it, process it, in order to bring out its natural beauty, as well. I did not dip into interior design here, in this presentation, so if the home looks bare, it's because I did not finish it, yet. I am still a kid, when it comes to architectural design and I love the feeling of a cave dwelling, very tall walls and places to explore. Above each bedroom, there is enough room to put in an additional bedroom and one more above that, as well. All would have light, coming in. I did not put in bathrooms, with the toilets and showers or even closets. I just did a rough sketch, just to show the natural lighting and outside design, so I could showcase the problems that I have solved. This is not a finished design, but I wanted to get it out to you, so you can see what I'm working on. It has some solutions that are noteworthy. I used to live in California, where the ocean makes summers cool and winters warmer than you find in the desert, far from the sea. Where I live, in Arizona, we have 110 degrees, every day for two months, straight. So, the last thing you want is sunlight, coming in, directly. You want light, not heat, so any design for a home here, would have to have reflected light coming in. I did not consider cost or cleaning in this design and just wanted to put forth some ideas for you to consider. One day, we will have materials that will solve the cost and cleaning problems. We already have windows which can filter out heat rays and can be dimmed to opaque, so at night, you may adjust the glass so you don't let neighbors see you coming out of the shower in your pajamas. How can you build an attractive home that does not look like a box? How can you save money on construction? Steel is cheap and lumber is expensive. So, you build mostly out of steel and stucco. The heavy frame of the home is structural steel and you cover it with wire mesh and then spray stucco over it. The smooth lines are very attractive and futuristic. It is anything but a box and when you add sophisticated lines and color them, you can get a nice look. Now, what about lighting? I was unable to bring in natural light, until this video, but there was a breakthrough, finally. One can't draw in square windows on a curved surface, in Sketchup and even if you force it, it doesn't look right. This design needs a new kind of lighting and the one shown here is the answer, it seems. It's a beautiful design and like many designs, anyone who sees this video will have 1,000 recommendations and that's why it's good to share. I like the feedback and you need the exercise to make your mind work. Try to duplicate this, before you criticize, so you can appreciate, first, the difficulty of going what I have done. Then I'd love to hear your idealistic proposals. Thanks for watching!
