Tensile Fabric Architecture: Part Three - Practicalities

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Interested in knowing more about tensile fabric structures and the technology behind them? From yurts made out of animal skins to modern and even futuristic building schemes, this video series shows just how exciting and inspiring tensile membranes can be. This video is part three in a four part overview of how tensile fabric structures can benefit a design scheme. Part three discusses the practicalities of using tensile fabric; from acoustic and thermal performance to printing, lighting and the environmental impact of a fabric structure. Parts one and two discuss the basic fabric forms, materials used and benefits of introducing a tensile structure into a buildig scheme, whilst part four talks more in depth about the processes involved in taking a tensile fabric structure from scheme design to practical completion and beyond. 1. Fabric is such a cool material in architecture. Wow. Can we have more vids like this please ? 😭🙌🏻
  2. Moonsabie, glad to hear you too love tensile fabric. I'd like to hear your design thoughts on a 'home structure' - anything is possible. We have just installed an ETFE Foil roof in a private residence and it looks amazing - so much natural light and LEDs add a brilliant effect at night. I think ETFE has a place in the residential market. You can reach us on mail@architen.com. Jason
  3. been wanting to build a home structure like this for years. love tensile fabric
