The Architecture of the Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

The new Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre at the University of Waterloo, designed by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg (KPMB) Architects, is both a scientific and architectural marvel. Designed to enable cutting-edge experiments at the forefront of science — and inspire the interdisciplinary collaboration that allows such science to happen — the building will help transform Waterloo into the "Quantum Valley" of the 21st Century. Prof. Stephen Hawking participated in the official opening on Sept. 21 and commented that the new Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre "is a work of architectural genius." In this video, Marianne McKenna and Mitch Hall of KPMB explain the architectural and aesthetic elements that make up the exterior of this unique building. Find out more about IQC!
